<text>The diary contains Tauern's notes about his activities during the expedition, his ethnographic observations, accounts of personal relationships and challenges as well as few sketches. The content is still being examined, therefore only an example page is shown here.<br /><br />The biography of this diary is not entirely clear, but according to the memories of the Schneider family and corresponding archive information, it can be reconstructed as follows: After Odo D. Tauern's death, the diary stayed in the private household of his widow, Marie Sophie Berthold. She re-married and after her death the diary was left to Wilhelm Jenne, her second husband. Jenne worked in the municipal administration of Freiburg and gave the diary, together with other books that were previously owned by Tauern, to a colleague. Today, the diary is still owned by the Schneider family, the descendants of Jenne's colleague. The family temporarily entrusted the diary to this research project for further examination.</text>
